Our local baker who has supplied our bread over many years has told us today he has ceased trading as he can’t make a profit.
Established over 80 years ago, three generations of Maskell’s have had a bakers shop in Cambridge but they can no longer compete with supermarkets. It’s a great shame to see another independent business go. Our lovely bread delivered to our doorstep has come to an end.
The sun was shining in Cambridge yesterday. A beautiful day for a walk along the backs of the colleges.
Our bathrooms are now finished and our first customers of the season check in this week.
Our bathrooms are nearly finished.
We had our routine inspection from Cambridge Enviromental Health this morning and retained our score of 5 for food hygiene.
Nick and I had a great night with friends at The Cambridge Colleges charity ball held at Kings College.
Not so easy getting up to do breakfast the next day.
We have just returned from our break at Thornham. We spent the first few days getting the house cleaned up and comfortable for Christmas. The tree went up on Christmas eve and on Christmas day we went along to Hunstanton to watch the fancy dress charity swim. It was freezing just watching.
Our bathroom is nearly finished with just a few more things to do, the en suite is a also looking better.
Our bathrooms are taking shape.
Merry Christmas and best wishes for the new year to all our guests.
from Nick and Julie
